Having parliamentarians dying from the COVID-19 virus, you’d think that members of the elite would have finally realized how serious the issue is. But apparently not. Just recently, Karachi Police had to close down beauty salons that catered to a rich clientele in the midst of a raging pandemic.
Due to the viral outbreak, the operation of salons and spas had been prohibited by the Sindh government. However, it looks like Nabila’s and Neelo’s didn’t heed the warning.
They’re not alone in this gaffe and turns out other salons were also open for business in violation of directions from the Sindh Home Ministry.

The crackdown against beauty salons
DC South Karachi said strict action was taken against a number of salons in Clifton and DHA for operating despite closure orders from the Home Ministry. It’s like they don’t even care we’re in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic.
This isn’t really all that surprising given how people were risking their lives on Eid just to hit the markets.
Even now police and civil administration have to step in periodically to ensure all COVID-19 SOPs are being implemented.

There is no analysis of the health impact of Covid-19, on the capacity of hospitals, on how many have died, on data from the WHO. Nothing. Just a sweeping statement on entrepreneurs and business.

Pakistan is now one of the top 10 most affected countries by the Coronavirus pandemic, as the number of cases keeps rapidly climbing. Yet, the actual extent of the spread of the virus in Pakistan can not be definitively determined due to the lack of testing and research.
The actual number of cases is suspected to be much higher than the reported figure. The least these beauty salons could do is adhere to rules until the pandemic is under control.
