This Pakistani Singer’s Urdu Song Made it to Billboard Top 10 Charts!

A proud moment for Pakistanis everywhere as singer Mahmood Khan managed to make it into one of the ‘Top Tens’ list of the prestigious Billboard Charts Top 10 chart.

Pakistan-born Australian singer Mahmood Khan’s song managed to make his mark on the list with the song ‘Ginoo’ that climbed up to No. 8 on the world’s most distinguished and authentic music chart known as Billboard Charts Top 10 World Digital Song Sales Chart.

This is the first time for a Pakistani artist, and an Urdu song no less, to enter the coveted Top 10 Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart. This is a huge win for Urdu, Pakistan, its youth, and musical culture. It is also a big day for the Australian music industry as well.

Mahmood settled in Australia in 2009 and now he has delivered on the promise of trailblazing a new world music phenomenon being dubbed ‘World/Pop’.

Talking to reporters from Australia on Tuesday, an excited Mahmood commented,

“This is truly incredible. I have done a few amazing projects in my career but this tops them all. I am thrilled that it is an Urdu language song. I am also thankful to the encouragement of friends who advised me to always stick to my own sound and to never give up.”

Mahmood also had a message for the youngsters in Pakistan as he said,

“My message is to always celebrate your uniqueness.”
