Waseem Badami & Fakhr-e-Alam Are Still Marketing Their Fake Cure for Coronavirus Under New Name

This has got to stop.

Around two weeks ago, celebrities Waseem Badami & Fakhr-e-Alam started to promote a herbal tea by the name AntiCov. The development received a lot of backlash online for fooling people and using a global pandemic to sell a fake cure.

The original tweet by Fakhr-e-Alam about AntiCov was soon deleted. But it seems like that wasn’t the end of it. Although they changed its name, it is still being presented as a relief against COVID-19.

Although the tea might be packed with essential vitamins and minerals that boost immune systems, it is not clear why the product was first marketed as ‘AntiCov’. The human body’s immune system is built over time, and taking some tea isn’t miraculously going to help this process go any faster.

And while both Waseem Badami & Fakhr-e-Alam might deny the fact that they claimed their tea to be a cure for coronavirus, here is what its description is on their website:

The medicinal herbs fight the viruses causing diseases, promote immunity, and improve health.

It is sad to see that actors, like Nabeel Qureshi from Bulbulay, have jumped on this marketing campaign targeted towards the vulnerable.

Herbal tea is not the answer

Here’s what we do know about the coronavirus. It is rather contagious and even people with the strongest immune systems can get affected by the coronavirus. The only difference is that those with a weak immune system are affected more drastically by it.

At a time when doctors are already prescribing proven medication and measures to combat and even prevent coronavirus from infecting people, some people are being taken advantage of with these ‘herbal cures.’

It is important to note that celebrities are awfully quiet on this matter. The authorities too should be clamping down on such blatant misinformation and profiteering tactics. Perhaps, these two selling tea in the name of a cure for coronavirus is the smallest example of how big names take advantage of their influence.

Please do not fall for these ill-intentioned money-making tactics, and always refer to a doctor for your own safety.
