Former Pakistani cricketer, cricket commentator, and coach Wasim Akram recently returned home from England. He was happy to be back, however a walk at the beach changed all of that. The former bowler posted a video on Instagram expressing his grief over the garbage-filled Clifton Beach.
Earlier this year, his wife Shaniera Akram organized a beach clean up drive. Many residents of the area, school children, and others joined her. Their beach clean up was a massive success.

However, after the storm and disastrous flooding, it seems like the area is worse than it was before. With plastic bags, syringes, and even shoes lying around. Wasim Akram is highly disappointed.

According to UNDP almost 3.3 million tonnes of plastic is thrown out as waste in Pakistan. While plastic on its own is hazardous enough, threatening the wildlife, throwing it out in public is even more so.
We hope Wasim Akram’s video is taken as a message of awareness and people start taking the responsibility of keeping their city clean.
