While there is an ongoing debate about whether TikTok is good or bad, there are times when the video-sharing platform helps to shine light on some remarkable people.
Meet Colby Van Voorhis, a 24-year-old TikTok user from New York, who has amassed more than 80,000 followers and over 15 million views on his channel. The youngster did all of that despite being born with missing limbs.
Colby is a TikTok user who was born with a very rare genetic disorder called Thrombocytopenia-Absent Radius Syndrome (TAR). Although he may not have limbs, Colby does not let it affect his attitude and personality on social media.
Going by the name ‘Armless Freak’, the popular TikToker loves to crack jokes about himself in order to help people feel comfortable around him.

“I make jokes about myself and I gave myself the armless freak name in middle school. I know I am a bit freaky looking and the videos are my way of making people feel comfortable being around me. Anyone can make a difference to the world, however small. People tell me I am an inspiration but I am just living my life. I have never moped around or felt sad about how I look because my condition has made me who I am. I have fun with my videos and it’s a good way for me to be an advocate for other people like me who might not be as confident.”
Despite his physical disadvantages, Colby is able to feed, dress, and bathe himself. He lives an independent lifestyle and is happy as he has devised his own way of moving around the house and climbing stairs.
