248 Property Units Sealed in Crackdown Against Tax Defaulters

RAWALPINDI: The Department of Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control has carried out a major operation against property tax, luxury tax, and commercial property tax defaulters in Rawalpindi district.

A total of 248 property units have been sealed and 13 major defaulters have been arrested, with a sum of Rs. 30.07 million successfully recovered from them.

To further curb tax evasion, the department has made it mandatory for all major VVIP housing societies in the city to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the department for the sale and transfer of property titles.

Sources in the department confirmed that the implementation of the NOC rule is expected to generate millions of rupees in additional revenue annually.

A notice has already been issued to the property registrar, stating that houses and plots in renowned housing societies cannot be transferred without an NOC from the department.
