ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established a committee, headed by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, to rejuvenate the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA).
The committee will also include the Law Minister, Information Technology Minister, Investment Minister, Capital Development Authority Chairman, and the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Establishment.
The PM expressed his dissatisfaction with the poor performance of the STZA and the committee was created to rectify the situation.
The committee has been instructed to submit its revival plan within a week and to activate the board of governors of the authority promptly.
The focus of the committee is to prioritize the development of technology in the country. During the meeting, it was noted that 400 companies are registered with the STZA, 63% of which are Pakistani and the rest are foreign companies.
