CDA to Launch Anti-Encroachment Drive Against Car Showrooms

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is planning to conduct a large-scale operation against car showroom owners who have illegally parked their vehicles on footpaths and right of way, causing inconvenience to commuters.

The CDA officials have issued a final warning to the car dealers and showroom owners in various sectors of the city to remove the encroachments, or else face legal action.

As per the details, encroachments have been obstructing pedestrian movement in various sectors of the city.

The decision was made on the orders of the Chairman of the CDA, as the Authority received numerous complaints from the residents of various sectors of the federal capital.

In the first phase of the operation, the car dealers in sectors F-10, F-11, G-8, and G-9 will be targeted and the district administration has been asked to assist in the operation.

During the operation, illegally constructed ramps and structures will be demolished, and unattended parked vehicles belonging to car motor dealers and showrooms in the public parking area will be shifted to relevant police stations.

The officials stated that the encroachments made by the car dealers have hindered pedestrian movement and caused difficulties in parking for residents due to the illegal ramps constructed by car dealers and showroom owners, as well as illegal occupiers of footpaths and parking areas.

Comments

  1. This a good step; should have been done long time ago. These car showrooms occupy all public parking places and don’t leave any space for ordinary people. F-10 Markaz is typical example of these violation.

  2. The same should be done against the workshops spread on all roads across the city. Law should be passed that all workshops must be opened only in closed garage area and not spread in roadside.

  3. About time. Same should be done with all the restaurants that are occupying all the parking spaces with their outdoor tables. Good example is F8 Markaz.

  4. Such drives should be against all encroachers and in all cities. And those found violating must all be punished as per law.

  5. This is all public stunt. I always call these lamé announcements to collect more bribes. Can you believe a department announced that they gonna perform their duty….. seriously? It should be in their routine practice.

  6. Why are you not targeting the government employee quarters in g9, g10, g11 etc. Where they have made rooms and parking garages outside the government quarters? Why are you not taking action against CDA employees who have rented out their allotted quarters based on per room? In g9 the government employees have made laundary, wc, garages, gardens and loans outside their blocks. How is it legal, because they are government’s asset and their owners are governments employees?
