ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken over all cases of property transfers involving registry deeds from the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) that fall within the CDA’s purview.
As per the details, CDA and ICT’s revenue department are the two departments that handle property transfer cases in Islamabad.
However, many properties in older sectors such as F-6, G-6, F-7, and F-8 have been transferred via registry deeds from ICT’s revenue department.
According to sources, subsequent buyers had to get the property transferred from ICT only once it had been transferred from the ICT revenue department. But now, CDA has decided to deal with all such cases and requested the ICT revenue department to issue no-objection certificates (NOC) accordingly.
The CDA board made the decision to amend the property manual in its meeting held on October 28, 2022, and decided that CDA would handle all registry cases.
In this regard, the director estate sent a letter on February 10, informing the deputy commissioner (DC) Islamabad and the joint sub-registrar of the decision.
Under the new rules, properties in which a conveyance/lease deed has been executed can only be further transferred through sale deeds filed with the Joint Sub Registrar’s office.
For cases where a conveyance or lease deed is executed, the allottee must surrender the original document if they opt to transfer the property through CDA’s One Window Operation Counter (OWO).
In cases where only the sale deed is executed, without any conveyance or lease deed, the original sale deed must be surrendered before being transferred.
