LDA Seals Illegal Wedding Halls and Marquee Sites Along Canal Road

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) carried out another series of operations against illegal constructions and encroachments in various areas of the city.

The campaign was led by LDA Director General Aamir Ahmed Khan and supervised by Chief Town Planner Shakeel Anjum Minhas.

According to the details, several different officials conducted special operations in different zones of the city.

Salman Mehfooz, Director Zone II, sealed around 30 properties in Allama Iqbal Town, while Azhar Ali, Sidra Tabasum, and Ayesha Mutahir led a campaign to seal 29 illegal marriage halls and marquee sites along Canal Road.

Additionally, over 50 properties were sealed for non-payment of commercialization fees, and 10 properties were demolished due to illegal constructions.

Among the sealed wedding halls were Qasr-e-Maryam, Bara Dari Marquee, Muzammal Palace, Nawab Palace, Al Rehman Palace, Dera Marquee, Taj Palace, Victoria Palace, and a few others.

Moreover, the staff of Town Planning (Zone V) demolished an illegal shed and encroachment on a petrol pump on Raiwand Road, illegal constructions around Ada Plot, and an illegally constructed restaurant.

They also demolished illegally established shops in LDA Avenue One (F Block) while a building was demolished in J Block.

The staff of Town Planning Zone IV also took action against defaulters of commercialization fees and sealed 50 properties in Judicial Employees Society, Ali Town, and Nawab Town. The sealed properties were mainly food points, pharmacies, and other shops.

Furthermore, LDA has emphasized the importance of these operations in ensuring the safety and security of the residents of Lahore. It has committed to continuing its efforts to curb illegal constructions and encroachments in the city.
