LDA to Develop Housing Schemes Across Punjab

LAHORE: Based on the LDA City housing project being carried out in the provincial capital, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has been permitted to create housing plans at the district headquarters of Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana Sahib.

The authority has also been permitted to set up field offices in the aforementioned districts to plan, construct, and develop housing developments.

As per the details, LDA requires billions of rupees yearly for the payment of wages to thousands of employees, infrastructure development, and several other expenditures, therefore one of the main goals of this plan is to boost income to sustain the LDA.

“Another goal is to relieve Lahore’s growing population strain by creating thoughtful housing developments in these areas,” the source informed.

The official stated that the housing plans would be created on the model of the LDA city, for which the land was bought from the landowners by providing them developed plots, and the development is being done on contemporary designs.

Besides, LDA exercised master planning, land use conversion, and approval of private housing schemes in the districts of Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana Sahib, according to the minutes of a recent meeting of the LDA governing body.

The recent approval of the Lahore Division Master Plan 2050 is a significant task accomplished by the authority to ensure planned development, the welfare of the general public, and the enhancement of business and employment opportunities in Lahore, according to the official.

The official claimed that it would be suitable for LDA to also create housing schemes in the districts to their needs to control the real estate market, and relieve pressure on Lahore.

The sources stated that to acquire land, the LDA City Housing Scheme might be utilized as a successful example.

Additionally, ideally in the administrative centers of these districts, one first scheme would be conceived, developed, and created.

The body also permitted the proposal for the creation of housing schemes and field offices, saying that it was appropriate to build field offices in these districts to carry out the recommendations.
