ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has successfully planted over 150,000 saplings in the ongoing tree plantation campaign in the federal capital and surrounding areas over the past two weeks.
The tree plantation drive is being carried out on the instructions of Chairman CDA Noorul Amin Mengal, and citizens have been actively involved in the campaign.
According to an official, the CDA chief has set a target of planting around 500,000 saplings during the spring season, and the plantation drive has already begun at F-9 Park.
As part of the campaign, children have also been engaged in planting saplings in different parks, and free-of-cost fruit trees have also been distributed among citizens.
The official added that involving children in the tree plantation campaign is a key strategy to ensure its success. CDA, the private sector, and civil society all have an important role to play in making the tree plantation drive a success.
The tree plantation campaign is an important step toward mitigating the negative impacts of climate change, which is a global issue.
It is heartening to see that the CDA and citizens are taking an active role in this campaign to make the federal capital greener and more environmentally friendly.
