LAHORE: In a recent development, Al Rehman Developers has announced the acquisition of the news channel ‘Public News’.
The real estate company says it expresses confidence in the leadership and vision of the news channel’s management and expects it to flourish under their guidance.
Al-Rahman Developers have a history in the real estate industry, having previously developed Al-REHMAN Garden and Zarai Farm Houses.
However, it is worth noting that this is not the first instance of a real estate company venturing into the media industry in Pakistan.
In the past, business tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain also had stakes in a prominent international channel in the country, which was closed down for unknown reasons.
More recently, it has been revealed that Suno TV, another Pakistani news channel, has ties with the Blue Group of Companies, which owns and is developing the controversial Blue World City.
While such partnerships between real estate companies and media outlets are not illegal, they have raised concerns among some stakeholders about potential conflicts of interest and biased reporting.
