RDA to Crack Down on Fraudulent Housing Schemes in the Region

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has taken strict action against illegal housing societies in the district.

As per the details, RDA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa chaired a meeting where the planning branch was instructed to visit all such housing societies and take action against them.

The meeting also reviewed issues such as illegal land conversion, sub-division, and marketing, with strict action, promised against those who violate the law.

Jappa directed officials to monitor illegal housing schemes regularly and send information letters to relevant authorities, such as the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Federal Investigation Agency, and Federal Board of Revenue.

He further stated that advertising, marketing, and development of such projects were banned and those who violated the law would face strict legal action.

The RDA website was also suggested as a way to inquire about housing schemes, with a special desk established to help people.

Besides, the DG also warned sponsors to stop marketing their unapproved and illegal housing schemes, stating that strict legal action would be taken against them to protect the public from fraud.

Moreover, the planning wing of RDA was directed to visit illegal housing schemes daily and demolish site offices and structures, while the MP&TE Directorate was asked to take strict action against illegal and unauthorized housing schemes, construction, and encroachment.

The DG also urged the public to cooperate with the RDA and not waste their hard-earned money on illegal housing schemes.
