ATTOCK: After 92 housing societies operating in the region were labeled ‘illegal’, the district administration in Attock wrote a letter to the state utility providers, including electricity and Sui gas, to cut off services and halt granting of new connections.
As per the details, 92 housing societies functioning in various parts of Attock, Hasanabdal, Jand, Pindigheb Hazro, and FatehJhang were deemed unlawful by the district administration on Thursday.
The sources informed that the managing director of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) and the chief executive of Islamabad Electric Supply Company Ltd. (IESCO) were the recipients of the letter.
Furthermore, a copy of the letter has also been sent to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Islamabad to provide support in this campaign.
Besides, legal action has also been directed to the head of the departments to cut off their respective utilities and place a ban on new connections at the housing societies that the district administration Attock has deemed illegal.
According to the letter, by introducing unlawful housing societies and land subdivisions, the land mafia is robbing the general people of their property.
The letter requested to protect the general public and urged that all connections to unlawful housing societies/land subdivisions must be severed, while no connection may be made without an NOC from the organization in charge of authorizing buildings/housing societies.
