RAWALPINDI: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has initiated a drive to recover outstanding dues amounting to Rs. 32m from commercial and residential consumers with pending water bills.
The agency has sent final notices to the defaulters to pay the amount as soon as possible, with warnings that connections will be removed in case of non-payment.
WASA has already disconnected some connections in the city to recover the outstanding amount.
According to a senior WASA official, from July to January, WASA recovered Rs. 83m per month from consumers, while achieving an 80% target in the current fiscal year.
The official said the crackdown would continue till every penny is recovered.
He added that WASA detected 1,412 illegal water connections in the city, and the managing director has warned that action will be taken against those who proved negligent.
