Govt Releases Funds for WASA to Start Dredging Work in Nullah Leh

RAWALPINDI: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has announced a PKR 30 million project to clean Nullah Leh, aimed at avoiding flood-like situations during the upcoming monsoon season.

The caretaker Punjab government has provided the funds and instructed WASA to initiate dredging work at the earliest. The government has set a deadline of June 30 for the authority to complete the cleanliness work.

According to Umer Farooq, the spokesperson for WASA, the operation to clean Nullah Leh will begin in April and conclude by June.

The agency will spend PKR 30 million to clear the path of the nullah, ensuring smooth water flow during the monsoon season.

As per the details, this year’s monsoon season is expected to be harsh, and obstacles in the path of rainwater flow from Islamabad and adjacent nullahs must be removed. The dredging will enhance water flow by up to 2 feet.

It is hoped that the project will be completed on time, and the public will extend their support to ensure the success of the project.
