RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has hired Mott McDonald Pakistan Company to determine the new urban limits and development plan for the next 25 years.
The plan includes different types of zones such as green, residential, industrial, and agro-farm zones.
As per the details, the boundaries have been established in collaboration with the local government for four tehsils, housing schemes, industrial areas, and central business places.
The areas outside the site development zones will be reserved for agriculture and the environment.
Additionlly, the proposed maps have been shared with the assistant commissioners of the four tehsils for discussion with local stakeholders and the general public.
The peri-urban structure plan is available on the RDA website for public review and the public has ten days to submit objections or suggestions related to the plan to the Director Town Planner Mohammad Tahir Meo and assistant commissioners.

Rawalpindi is more beautiful than Islamabad but the management of this city has never be given importance.Accepts DHAs and Askari societies.Rest of Rawalpindi gives the look of pind.keys issues of Rawalpindi.All the natural stream which were sources of fresh water had been changed into affluent Mullahs,Like river Swan.Swan valley civilization is very old and unique.but now it’s gives Ugly look.
fresh safe drinking water shortage is another big issue of Rawalpindi city.
Congestion of traffic on all roads of Rawalpindi.Lack of new and big parks to cater the population influx in Rawalpindi.As Lahore had big parks pindi lack it.Cutting of trees at fast rate change the climate of Rawalpindi,few years back temperature was low and average rainfall was high.now months of Jan and Feb is hot.There is strong need of urban of urban forest in Rawalpindi.
To conculed.
360 degree change is required to bring Rawalpindi at par to the other cities of Punjab aswell as to be twin of capital.its required additional funds to be invested in Rawalpindi to safe it from the above mentioned issues.
First of all on top priority ring road is needed badly, rest comes later.

RDA should work on roads infrastructure in its jurisdiction. Metro bus project should start from Rawat to saddar and onward to New airport. Ring road plan should be taken in hand. Vegetable mandi should be organised to ease residents. Drinking water, sanitation, electricity cabling network should be targeted. More Police stations required in different areas. Lots to do with committed and organised management and a strong team leadership.
Pollution in River Swan particulary by throwing Nullah Lai into Swan is much disturbing. Many more societies like Bahria phase 1-6 are throowing much filth in Swan. Some remedy needed.
Nulla lai Road project and ring road project should be given a prime importance to solve traffic problems of twin city.
Top priority to ring road and Nala lai and rest of to take action against fake societies and give NOC to the societies which are under process

Complete ban required on converting fertile agriculture land for housing societies and farm houses.if third does not stop than very soon we will have food and vegetable shortage .
We are facing difficulty know for fresh commodities and grain shortage.
Even private houses must be banned 9n agriculture land.
RDA…. Please take care of following:
-Complete the proposed, much needed Ring Road ASAP.
-Impose a ban on building housing societies in agriculture land.
-Take measures to eradicate water issue.
Remodeling of GT road in between Tarnol/ T chowk and New Lazar chowk started in October 2022 and is not completed as yet despite lapse of 6 months.
The civil work is taking place at snail pace that’s too during peak days timings. Commuters are facing the blunt, wasting time, petrol and accidents.
Kindly, schedule the work at faster speed preferably at night so that traffic is disturbed the least.
Moreover, traffic wardens must be placed to mitigate traffic blockade at all nodal points both during day and night.
