LDA to Survey Model Roads, Hospitals, and Mega Stores for Public Parking Violations

PESHAWAR: In a bid to ensure the implementation of public parking rules and regulations, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to survey nine model roads, approved hospitals, and megastores to identify parking areas being compromised or used for other activities.

The Chief Town Planner, LDA, and TEPA will conduct the survey, and if violations are found, notices will be served, and legal action will be taken if the parking areas are not vacated within three days.

The decision was made during a meeting of the Review Committee of Building & Zoning Regulations which was attended by officials from various departments, including the LDA, PHA, and Lahore Parking Company.

The LDA DG directed the departments to submit proper reports within three days, and he also appointed the Additional Director General (HQ), LDA, as the Focal Person for the assignment.

During the meeting, Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan, Moazzam Ali Shah, pointed out that a police force chowki and Wasa pump were illegally constructed in a park site near the American School, which needed to be demolished.

He also demanded that actions be taken against parking violators, and the Lahore Parking Company introduce a digital system for charging parking fees.

Besides, Chief Engineer-I, LDA, reported that patchwork had been started on all the model roads, and PHA had served around 5,000 notices to illegal constructions on greenbelts within two years.

The Lahore Parking Company also informed the meeting that an MoU was signed between a bank and Lahore Parking Company to digitize three sites among the 174 sites of Lahore Parking Company.
