LAHORE: In a significant development, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to collaborate with the Urban Development Unit in formulating terms of reference (ToRs) for a comprehensive review of the Lahore Master Plan 2050.
The court also emphasized the appointment of a dedicated focal person for this purpose.
At the same time, the LHC has extended the stay on the implementation of the Lahore Master Plan 2050.
These orders were issued by Justice Shahid Karim while hearing petitions filed by Abdul Rehman and others who have raised objections to the plan.
According to the petitioners, the conversion of agricultural land into urban areas without proper justification and the potential felling of numerous trees pose severe environmental threats.
Moreover, they also alleged that the plan was launched with malicious intent and are urging the court to nullify it.
