RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has taken strict action against the allegedly illegal housing scheme, Blue World City, by banning its social media marketing and issuing a warning to its sponsors.
According to an RDA spokesperson, a case regarding the Blue World City housing scheme is currently under review in the high court.
Until a final decision or approval is granted by the RDA, the authority will not allow any advertisements or marketing activities related to the scheme.
The Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate of the RDA has already cautioned the housing scheme, stating that immediate cessation of marketing is required.
Failure to comply will result in legal actions against the scheme for engaging in illegal advertising and marketing practices, it added.
The RDA Director General, Saif Anwar Jappa, has advised individuals to refrain from investing in illegal and unauthorized housing schemes.
He emphasized the importance of verifying the legitimacy of any housing scheme by checking with the RDA beforehand.
The RDA’s official website (www.rda.gop.pk) provides the necessary information for verification, he added.
Furthermore, the RDA has taken proactive measures to curb the spread of illegal advertisements by private housing schemes on various digital platforms.
The authority has sent letters to Cybercrime Islamabad and the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), urging them to take action and prevent the dissemination of illegal advertisements on social media, WhatsApp, YouTube, etc.
