KARACHI: The administration of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Karachi, has issued an alert to the residents of the upscale area, urging them to prepare for the approaching cyclone Biparjoy.
The cyclone currently lies 600 kilometers away from the port city, posing a potential threat.
In light of the escalating situation, residents residing in the coastal region of Karachi have been advised to take precautionary measures and be prepared for any emergency scenarios.
A tweet posted by DHA Karachi Official stated, “We advise our residents to prepare for the Severe Cyclonic Storm (SCS) Biparjoy.”

To safeguard their homes, residents have been advised to secure their basement entrances and in case of any emergencies, they are encouraged to contact the DHA helpline at 1092.
Furthermore, the advisory also outlines several precautions to mitigate the undesirable consequences of the storm.
In addition, Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed in coastal areas, including DHA, at prohibiting people from visiting beaches as a safety measure.
Moreover, Sea View Road has been temporarily blocked from a local restaurant to Khayaban-e-Ittehad.
Over the past 24 hours, the tropical cyclone has intensified into an Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm (ESCS) and is expected to make landfall on the coastal belt of southeast Sindh between the Pakistan/Rann of Kutch-Indian Gujarat coasts by June 15 afternoon as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS).
