RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) carried out an operation on Tuesday, sealing 100 illegal commercial properties on Chakri Road as per the directives of Director General Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa.
The RDA’s Enforcement Squad took action against unauthorized commercial buildings in Mouza Mohra Chappar, Mouza Mori Ghazan, and Mouza Lakhan, resulting in the closure of 100 shops.
Additionally, two CNG stations, 3 schools, and other shops on Chakri Road were sealed.
The Enforcement Squad, led by the in charge and assisted by the Assistant Director of Building Control and Building Inspectors, conducted the operation to address the issue of illegal commercial buildings.
These properties were found to violate approved plans, maps, the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976, and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020, as they were constructed without proper approval and No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
Director General Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa has instructed the Land Use & Building Control Wing (LU&BC) to take strict action against encroachments, illegal constructions, and unauthorized commercial activities without any discrimination.
Furthermore, the Building Control Wing has also been directed to conduct a comprehensive survey to identify illegal residential and commercial buildings.
The aim is to regularize all illegal residential-cum-commercial buildings in areas under the control of RDA.
Besides, the citizens have also been advised to proactively remove encroachments to avoid legal consequences.
