LAHORE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) conducted a hearing on Wednesday regarding the alleged housing scam at Punjab University Town-III.
However, the accused professors failed to appear for the hearing, which focused on the financial irregularities and misuse of authority in the affairs of Town III.
According to sources, ACE issued call-up notices to several individuals, including PU Prof Dr. Sajid Rashid, Dr. Mahboob Hussain, Dr. Azhar Naeem, and former registrars Dr. Khalid Khan and Dr. Liaqat Ali, among others.
The allegations revolve around their involvement in the housing project and the misuse of funds.
During the hearing at the ACE headquarters, Additional Director General Waqas Hasan listened to the statements of the complainant, Assistant Prof Dr. Khurram Shahzad, and other affected individuals.
They alleged that the project, worth Rs. 2.7 billion, was awarded to a firm without following transparent procedures.
It was further claimed that certain professors from the project’s management committee received significant monetary benefits.
The complainants also expressed concerns about the lack of progress in the development of plots over the past seven years.
They accused the accused individuals of utilizing project funds for personal gains.
Besides, the details, suggest that the professors facing these allegations did not appear to defend themselves during the hearing.
The ACE ADG assured the complainants that action would be taken based on merit, indicating a commitment to thoroughly investigate the allegations and address any irregularities.
