LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has expressed concern over allegations of corruption in the Punjab University’s Employees Housing Scheme, commonly known as Town-III.
According to sources, the court has now requested reports from the university and the government.
The court was hearing a petition filed by a PU Assistant Professor, Khurram Shahzad, who claimed that billions of rupees had been misappropriated in the scheme.
The petitioner’s counsel pointed out that the management committee, headed by its secretary Prof. Azhar Naeem, had failed to initiate any development work in the scheme, despite it being launched in 2016.
Furthermore, the court has directed the respondents to submit their detailed replies within two weeks.
