MANSEHRA: Amir Haider Khan Hoti, the leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), marked the beginning of a significant development project by inaugurating a bridge over the Indus River.
According to sources, the bridge aims to connect the Torghar district with Peshawar, promising improved connectivity and development opportunities for the region.
During the inaugural ceremony held in the Kunhar Sharif area, Hoti expressed his optimism about the project, stating that the government had allocated funds for its implementation.
This bridge is set to become the second-largest infrastructure project in the district and is expected to be completed within a few weeks, he claimed.
Hoti highlighted the benefits of the bridge, emphasizing that it would not only reduce travel time between Torghar and Peshawar but also foster connectivity among the areas inhabited by the district’s five major tribes for centuries.
Recalling his previous role as the Chief Minister in 2011, Hoti mentioned his special affection for the people of Torghar.
He shared that during his tenure, he approved the district’s status for their then-tribal area and allocated a substantial Rs. 6 billion in special packages for infrastructure development and other facilities.
Additionally, Hoti expressed confidence in his party’s success in the upcoming elections, stating that the ANP would form the government in the province to address the long-standing deprivation of the people.
Former chairman of the Torghar district development advisory committee and MPA Laiq Mohammad Khan highlighted his efforts in initiating large-scale development projects, despite facing opposition within the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government.
Besides, he also mentioned his contributions towards improving education and healthcare in the region, including the establishment of schools, colleges, and a district headquarters hospital.
