ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) successfully collected and distributed the offal and remains of approximately 130,000 animals, weighing a total of 2,278 tonnes, during the three days of Eidul Azha.
The CDA revealed that their waste removal plan was efficiently executed throughout the city during Eid.
The city was divided into four zones, each with designated collection points. Sanitation teams commenced their operations early in the day and were equipped with machinery, tractors, trolleys, and compactors.
On the first day of Eid, the CDA reported that over 94,000 animals were sacrificed in the capital.

This resulted in a weight of approximately 60 tonnes. In total, around 72,000 small animals and 58,000 large animals were sacrificed during Eid.
To manage waste disposal, more than 97 pits were dug at 45 different locations.
Besides, emergency cells were established at two different places in the city to ensure sanitation arrangements.
Before Eid, the CDA had distributed bio-degradable plastic bags to residents and set up a helpline for assistance.
It is relevant to note that the garrison city has disposed of 12,300 tonnes of offal and waste.
