LAHORE: Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Lahore Commissioner, and LDA DG, conducted a visit to the Ravi River to evaluate its current flow.
During the visit, he received briefings from several departments, including the Pakistan Army, District Administration Lahore and Sheikhupura, Rescue 1122, Wasa, and irrigation authorities.
According to sources, the commissioner stressed the urgent need to remove encroachments under the bridges spanning the Ravi River.
The details suggest that a preliminary warning issued by the PDMA highlighted the possibility of upcoming floods in the river.
As of now, the water flow beneath the bridges remains within normal parameters, with approximately 14,000 cusecs of water flowing.
Recognizing the significance of preparedness, Randhawa urged Rescue 1122 and MCL to conduct thorough checks of emergency supplies and develop an evacuation plan.
