Land Department Goes Digital: Mayor Karachi Launches Digitization Initiative

KARACHI: Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has taken a significant step towards modernizing the Land Department by initiating the computerization of all records.

This new development aims to provide citizens with a convenient one-window facility for all land-related matters, including ownership, transfer, and leasing of land in Karachi.

The mayor stated that this transformation will ensure transparency and efficiency, leaving no room for complaints in this regard.

On Wednesday, the Mayor inaugurated the renovated office of the Land Department, along with a new monitoring and surveillance system, at the KMC head office building.

As per the details, the installation of a biometric attendance system for officers and staff will help improve attendance management, while the modern security system with 42 cameras will enhance surveillance in and around the building.

Accompanied by Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad and other officials, Barrister Murtaza Wahab inspected the newly renovated Land Department office and reviewed the newly installed biometric attendance system.

The mayor expressed his commitment to facilitate citizens approaching the Land Department.

Furthermore, he also urged similar renovations and improvements in other KMC offices and emphasized the importance of improving the Land Department’s recovery for the successful completion of development projects in Karachi.

As a central institution, the KMC officers must strive to enhance their performance and provide maximum facilities to the citizens, he added.
