Parliamentary Secretary Informs NA about Compensation for Acquired Land in Sectors G-14

ISLAMABAD: Syed Mehmood Shah, Parliamentary Secretary for Housing and Works, addressed the National Assembly on Tuesday, providing information about compensation and plots given to residents and owners of 4880 kanal of land acquired in sub-sectors 1 and 2 of sectors G-14.

He stated that compensation for land and buildings/houses was paid to the residents in 2005 and 2009, respectively, based on the market rates at that time.

Additionally, plots were given to them as per the decision of the federal cabinet.

Some residents had filed a writ in court, but the court ruled that the compensation provided earlier was already substantial.

Now, these individuals are demanding compensation based on current rates.

Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani commented on the issues arising due to the imposition of Section Four by the Deputy Commissioner or Capital Development Authority.

He noted that enforcing Section Four without understanding the ground reality led to the emergence of land-related problems.

Durrani emphasized that if compensation was not paid earlier, it should be provided based on the existing market rates.

He also directed the CDA and Federal Housing Authority to offer alternate plots to landowners in exchange for their acquired lands, along with compensation for built-up properties (BUPs) at current market rates.

The CDA was also instructed to provide compensation to the affectees of E-12 based on current rates.
