ISLAMABAD: On Sunday, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) announced that it would prioritize resolving the unresolved compensation claims of land-affected individuals throughout the capital.
According to sources, the CDA was currently handling thousands of cases. “We have made a decision to address all legitimate concerns of land-affected individuals, and bogus cases would not only be categorically rejected but legal action would also be taken,” said a CDA official.
The sources indicate that in the past, the CDA land directorate was the subject of controversy for allegedly choosing favorite cases to hear, an act that became the primary cause of the backlog of cases.
“All out efforts are being made to resolve all the problems of the citizens, especially the land affectees of Islamabad,” reiterated Chairman CDA Capt. (R) Mohammad Usman Younis in a press statement issued by CDA.
Besides, the CDA Chairman himself visited different areas in the first phase to better understand the issues facing the affected people and also presided over khuli ketcheries to directly address the problems faced by the people.
Furthermore, a thorough plan had been developed to address the affected people’s long-standing issues, and those who had not yet received rehabilitation benefits would do so in accordance with the rules.
According to the plan, the rehabilitation benefits would be dispersed in stages to help affected individuals solve their problems and speed up sector development.
