RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) conducted a decisive operation against an illegal housing scheme situated in Mouza Adiala, Rawalpindi, resulting in the sealing of its site office, as confirmed by an RDA spokesman.
The RDA’s enforcement squad has intensified its efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal housing schemes.
As per the provisions of the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976, section 39, and section 12 (5), along with the Punjab Development Authority Private Housing Schemes Rules 2021, section 38, the owner of Al-Qaim Mansion had been issued notices before the operation.
Collaborating with local law enforcement from the relevant police station, the RDA’s enforcement squad executed the operation against the illicit housing scheme.
It was found that the owner of the property had been operating the site office of the housing scheme in defiance of regulations.
An FIR was consequently filed against the owner of the unauthorized housing scheme at the Sadar Beroni police station.
The RDA spokesman emphasized that the Director-General (DG) of RDA strongly advises the public against investing in unauthorized housing schemes that have been declared illegal by the authority.
Furthermore, the investors were also urged to verify the status of housing schemes through the RDA’s official website www.rda.gop.pk.
In addition, the DG of RDA has directed the Metropolitan Planning & Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate to take stringent action against illegal housing schemes, including the construction of unauthorized development, booking, and site offices, as well as encroachments.
Additionally, RDA has sought the cooperation of Islamabad Electric Supply Company, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines, and PTCL to refrain from extending services to such unlawful housing schemes.
