ISLAMABAD: The President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, has underscored the importance of incorporating Bara Kahu into Islamabad’s Municipality.
He highlighted that Bara Kahu has evolved into one of the principal commercial hubs within the federal capital and merits increased attention from relevant authorities.
During discussions with a delegation from Bara Kahu Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran, led by President Raja Zahid Dhaniyal, which visited the ICCI, expressed the commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the area’s traders.
He indicated his intention to influence the CDA chairman to personally inspect the Bara Kahu market, allowing him to grasp the traders’ concerns firsthand and subsequently take essential measures to address them.
Bakhtawari assured the delegation that ICCI would extend its full support to the Association’s endeavors aimed at enhancing conditions for the traders of Bara Kahu.
President of Bara Kahu Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran, Raja Zahid Dhaniyal, emphasized that the region’s issues have not been promptly resolved due to its rural classification.
He advocated for Bara Kahu’s inclusion within the municipal limits of Islamabad to facilitate its comprehensive development.
Dhaniyal also expressed concerns about the deteriorating state of Simli Dam Road and the road under the recently inaugurated bypass, both of which require urgent repair and maintenance.
Moreover, Dhaniyal highlighted serious sewage problems and inadequate drainage systems in Bara Kahu.
Sanitation facilities are nearly nonexistent, and he called for the establishment of a filtration plant and public toilets in the local market.
Moreover, he also stressed the pressing need for a multi-storied parking plaza to address the absence of proper parking facilities.
Former ICCI President Bakhtawari echoed the call for modernizing Bara Kahu, urging both the CDA and the Municipal Corporation Islamabad to collaborate for the area’s advancement.
