Islamabad International Airport Set to Outsource Operations for 15 Years

ISLAMABAD: A groundbreaking decision has been reached as the Ministry of Finance has granted the green light for the outsourcing of operations at the Islamabad International Airport.

This strategic move, approved shortly after the appointment of Anwaarul Haq as interim Prime Minister following the National Assembly’s dissolution, is aimed at streamlining services and boosting operational effectiveness.

The outsourcing arrangement entails the engagement of a third-party entity, which will manage the airport for a period spanning 15 years.

To secure this partnership, the selected entity is required to provide an upfront payment of $100 million.

In the event of non-compliance, the advanced payment will be subject to forfeiture, and the contract will be invalidated.

Insider reports indicate that a diverse array of responsibilities, encompassing administrative and financial aspects, airport design, and construction, will be delegated to the designated third party.

Additionally, the oversight of service charges, exchange rates, and leasing agreements for retail spaces within the airport premises will be included in the third party’s role.

It’s crucial to note that core elements such as security and immigration services will continue to fall within the purview of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Moreover, emerging details suggest that the third-party entity will also be granted authorization to establish shopping complexes and branded outlets within the airport premises, promising an elevated passenger experience.

  1. I think it is good decision, because our team can not deliver this operation due to lack of inexperience team.

  2. Heard this to be happening a month ago. Feeling sad to know that our government can’t handle such type of airport.

    1. When someone is incompetent and can’t perform must be removed. Old fashioned, illiterate people are appointed on recommendations not on merit brought all institutions to this position that ultimately we have to outsource different airports in Pakistan. It is hoped it Will bring some betterment.

  3. Along with the privatisation of the PIA, this seems strange coincidence. What a shame

  4. This is good decision to outsource but be careful to upgrade the paeenger facilities and increase more flights like Karachi Airport as well as to reduce fair of airline particularly allocated more international routes to local airlines, I appreciate but agreements is so long but the right of cancellation keep in hand

  5. Once PIA were in the top of list ….and only South Asian airline which fly to USA directly and when Dubai was growing only PIA was main guide to Dubai airport and of course Chinese aviation learned from PIA after independence….these are now just examples.
Now look at Dubai and china where they are standing and where ourselves?I am sure reader knows very well.
No need to blame anyone but only people of Pakistani republic…only we are the reasons because ruler always goes to rule from good or bad public…ruler wasn’t non_pakistani but working on foreign agendas so now we have to face the results of our mistakes.
So better to let’s go and face faithful management of foreign investor…and kickoff corrupt employees.
