RAWALPINDI: In a recent operation against unauthorized commercial constructions, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) sealed an office, a plaza, and 6 shops situated on Gulraiz Housing Scheme Road.
This crackdown, conducted in collaboration with the Airport police, was executed under Section 39 of the Punjab Development of Cities (PDC) Act 1976, targeting illegal commercial structures.
According to an RDA spokesperson, before the legal action, notices were issued to the property owners, alerting them to violations of approved plans, maps, and the PDC Act 1976.
These unauthorized commercial buildings had been constructed without the necessary approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs), in contravention of the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020.
The RDA has made it clear that it will not tolerate encroachments, illegal constructions, or unauthorized commercial activities.
Moreover, the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing has been instructed to take stringent measures without bias or hesitation.
Additionally, the Building Control Wing has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive survey to determine fees for approving illegal residential and commercial buildings, commercialization, and complementary building plans within RDA’s jurisdiction.
