KARACHI: The leader of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi, Engr. Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has given the encroachment mafia a seven-day ultimatum to leave the Jefco Ground in Landi Kotal Chowrangi in North Nazimabad.
The JI chief made these remarks on Sunday while speaking to a protest gathering organized by the North Nazimabad Restoration Movement in the Landi Kotal neighborhood of the city.
According to details, the protesters chanted anti-government and anti-authorities slogans while carrying placards and banners, calling attention to the dire circumstances in North Nazimabad.
In his speech, Engr. Naeem ur Rehman recalled that the late Mayor Nematullah Khan had created 25 model parks, in addition to hundreds of smaller playgrounds around the megacity. He claimed that the succeeding administrations destroyed the city and prioritized “China Cutting” over the growth of the metropolis.
He also warned that if the concerned contractor missed the deadline, he would have to deal with both protests and legal action as the party would also file a complaint with the judiciary over the encroachment.
The JI leader claimed that the PPP government in Sindh was just making cosmetic changes because Karachiites were pressuring it.
He warned the government and the mafia that unrest was imminent, emphasizing that although funds were “used,” the roads were in a terrible state despite being allotted Rs 1 billion for Shahrah-e-Noorjahan.
