RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has launched an operation against illegal commercial structures on Shahpur Syedan Road.
According to the details, the authority demolished 5 structures that were under construction and sealed 11 commercial buildings in the area.
The operation was carried out with the assistance of the police department and local businesses. The buildings against which action was taken include:
- Ayub Plaza
- Mashaallah Building Material
- Eshan Hair Saloon
- Saim Laundry and Dry Cleaners
- Naan Center
- Good Luck Bakers and Sweets
- Al-Quddus Tailors
- Wadi Naan Center
- A restaurant
- Shahpru Karyana Store
- Best Price Store
The RDA spokesperson also said that such actions had been taken as the owners of these structures had violated the Building and Zoning Regulations 2021 and were also not issued the No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
He also shared that the RDA had also demolished the boundary wall of the Countryside Farms located at Moza Raatyal and Mohra Koyain, Chak Beli Khan Road.
Earlier, the Authority also lodged FIRs against the owners of several illegal housing schemes as they were misleading the general public through advertisements.
Furthermore, the RDA has advised the public not to invest in such projects.

RDA warned public not to invest in illegal housing societies but didnot bother to publish the names of societies declared illegal. What is the logic of keeping names secret.
A clear and complete list of illegal housing societies should be published on regular basis in the dailies to safeguard the public from this massive fraud plus serious action should be taken against such who are misleading and defrauding the general public
