RAWALPINDI: Chief Minister of Punjab, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, decided to give the status of tehsil to Union Council Daultala in District Rawalpindi.
The decision was made during a meeting attended by members of the Provincial Assembly, including Provincial Minister Raja Basharat, Amjad Mahmood Chaudhary, Chaudhry Sajid Mehmood, and Javed Kausar.
The CM stated that this was not the first time such a decision had been made, as last year in October, the provincial government had also approved to upgrade Jalalpur Jattan and Kunjah, to tehsils, in the Gujrat district.
This decision was made after the formal conversion of Gujrat into the 10th division of Punjab by the provincial government in the month of August 2022.
To ensure the smooth implementation of this decision, the chief minister issued directives to construct tehsil offices and residences for public officials.
He also formed a task force to demarcate the new tehsils to ensure that the process is carried out efficiently and effectively.
Additionally, the chief minister’s decision aims to improve the lives of residents in the area by providing them with better access to basic facilities and making it easier for them to interact with local government officials.
It is important to note that the demand for Daultala to get the status of tehsil was earlier presented before the former CM Punjab Usman Buzdar in 2019.
