CDA Plans to Establish Economic Zone Near Rawat

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) board will discuss the proposal for the granting of a no-objection certificate (NOC) to the Board of Investment (BOI) and the Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZA) to establish an economic zone close to Rawat.

The sources said that a meeting in this regard would likely take place on Monday.

A combined summary was created by the planning and estate wings of the CDA, according to sources in the planning branch.

According to the report, the BOI and SEZA had asked the CDA to identify a territory to establish a Special Economic Zone.

For the construction of the ICT Model Special Economic Zone, the CDA had also designated 1,000 acres close to Rawat Industrial Estate, allowing the BOI to approach the land acquisition collector for the acquisition of the property.

According to the summary, before starting any project, a NOC from the CDA was necessary in light of directives issued by the Islamabad High Court on June 9, 2021.

“Therefore, the SEZA has contacted CDA for provision of the NOC,” it stated, adding that the SEZA had approved the concept plan in March 2022 and that the PC-I for the feasibility study and land acquisition had also received approval from the Central Development Working Party.

According to sources in the planning division, Zone IV is now approved for the building of private housing schemes, and the CDA has also created an industrial estate there along Kahuta Road.

Furthermore, near Zone-5 in Rawalpindi, another project called Rawat Industrial Estate has also been constructed.
