Administration to Red-Mark Dengue-Prone Vacant Plots

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi administration has decided to red-flag vacant plots littered with breeding grounds for disease-carrying mosquitoes in light of the confirmation of 158 dengue-positive hotspots in the garrison city.

In a meeting of the Divisional Emergency Response Committee, CEO of Health Dr. Ansar Ishaq confirmed that 291,739 hotspots were checked during the outdoor vector surveillance in the last month, out of which 158 were found positive and the required action was taken.

The district administration has also made it mandatory to obtain a no-objection certificate from the deputy commissioner for the sale of such plots.

Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha directed all departments to pay full attention to larva elimination as the current weather is suitable for breeding.
