ISLAMABAD: The former MPA, Aleem Khan, while addressing the 1st International Housing Expo 2022 stated that the government needed creative and innovative housing solutions to cater to the growing housing shortage.
As per the details, he emphasized the need for the government to amend building bylaws to promote innovative construction as the current building codes were a significant barrier to vertical growth.
According to him, the situation of the real estate market serves as a barometer for measuring a country’s progress because when real estate grows, the country as a whole grows, and when it falls, the economy also faces danger.
Aleem, while citing the examples, added that by concentrating on the construction sector, countries like Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Qatar, and others have experienced significant economic growth.
He asserted that Pakistan needed the vision to promote the construction sector to revive its economy since it fosters the expansion of about 100 related industries.
Besides, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, president of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI), noted that many major players in the housing and construction industries were creating high-quality housing projects, and that the Expo’s goal was to give them a good platform to market those projects.
He also added that the Expo had given residents a fantastic opportunity to view the modern housing opportunities that would aid them in creating intelligent and energy-efficient housing.
