According to a senior SDA officer, in January 2021, the former DG Munir Soomro allegedly auctioned six amenity plots without obtaining approval from the governing body.

In December 2022, Mumtaz Ali Soomro, a federal government employee and deputy general manager of the Ship Repair Division, filed a court petition stating that he successfully bid for one of the plots and paid Rs2 million to the authority on February 1, 2021.
