Caretaker Govt Orders Crackdown on Misuse of Parking Spaces in Lahore

LAHORE: The caretaker government in Lahore has given the go-ahead for a major crackdown on building owners who misuse parking spaces.

According to the sources, the operation is set to last for at least 15 days and will begin on Thursday.

Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa has called a meeting of relevant authorities, including the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), police, Metropolitan Corporation of Lahore, Lahore Parking Company, Traffic Engineering & Transport Planning Agency (Tepa), zonal administrations, and police.

The officials will discuss plans, arrangements, and possible resistance from building owners before the operation begins.

Furthermore, the operation will involve the sealing of buildings, heavy fines, and registration of FIRs, depending on the severity of the offense.

Besides, the city administration, police, LDA, Tepa, Wasa, MCL, Lahore Parking Company, and PHA will all participate in the operation.

The aim is to remove all encroachments on parking spaces and ensure they are only used for parking. The commissioner warned that the operation would continue until the desired results are achieved.
