ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) board has approved to start of 13 new feeder routes in Islamabad, which will connect commuters from various sectors to the central metro bus stations.
As per the details, the first phase of the project, which comprises 13 routes and 128 buses, is set to be completed by the end of 2023.
Furthermore, the commuters from sectors F, G, and I as well as D-12 will be connected to the central metro network through the new feeder routes.
The sources suggest that these routes will provide comfortable and international standard travel facilities to around 100,000 commuters.
The board also approved the operation of buses on the route from PIMS Hospital to Faisal Masjid, NDU, and back to PIMS Hospital, as well as hiring consultancy services for the construction project of the National Bus Service in Sector I-11 and the construction of a bus terminal at I-11.
Moreover, the CDA board approved the redesigning of Serena Chowk, the construction of a single-barrel underpass, and the construction of 6 parking plazas in different centers to eliminate parking problems.
CDA’s decision to the expansion of the feeder network would be welcomed by residents of Islamabad, providing them with more convenient and affordable travel options, the spokesman added.
