CDA Initiates Construction of 11th Avenue to Tackle Traffic Congestion in E-11

ISLAMABAD: To address the anticipated traffic congestion in the E-11 sector and Khayaban-i-Iqbal, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has made the decision to commence the construction of 11th Avenue.

Once the ongoing road connecting Margalla Avenue with sector E-11 is completed by July, the entire traffic from Margalla Avenue is expected to flow towards E-11 and Khayaban-i-Iqbal, leading to a traffic bottleneck.

According to sources, concerns have been raised regarding the potential congestion at this junction, with comparisons made to the bustling Raja Bazaar.

The Chairman CDA Noorul Amin Mengal stated that the construction of 11th Avenue had been approved to provide a direct link between the under-construction E-11 road and Srinagar Highway.

The survey for the project has already commenced, and it is expected to be completed within a month.

Moreover, the construction of 11th Avenue aims to mitigate traffic congestion on Khayaban-i-Iqbal and distribute the traffic load by connecting it with Srinagar Highway and IJP.

Highlighting the significance of 11th Avenue as a master plan road, Chairman Mengal emphasized the benefits it would bring to the public.

Regarding the ongoing 5.5-kilometer road project from D-12 to E-11, which is behind schedule, he expressed his commitment to its timely completion, with a revised target of mid-July.

Besides, the project, which includes the construction of a flyover and interchange at E-11, is currently underway.
