CDA Removes NOC Requirement for Property Transfers within Family

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has removed the requirement to obtain a No Objection Certificate from the Building Control Section Islamabad when a property is transferred to a family member.

Director CDA has stated that the process of obtaining the NOC takes a lot of time and thus the amendments have been approved by Chairman CDA, Muhammad Usman Younis, during a board meeting.

A CDA official has also shared that obtaining the NOC was easier for the influential, whereas the ordinary citizen had to run from one department to another.

The official added that the board had made two important decisions in this regard: Firstly the requirement of NOC has been removed; secondly, the validity of the NOC has been extended from three months to 1 year.

It is important to mention that the requirement of obtaining NOC from the BCS is lifted only in case the property is being transferred to a family member, while the requirement remains the same for a transfer other than the family.

In addition, the deputy director of CDA has disclosed that the board has also approved the policy under which a number of houses in Islamabad sectors, F-6, F-7, F-8, G-6, and G-7 that were transferred through the registry have been allowed to be transferred officially.

He added that all the properties will be, from now on, transferred through CDA which would be beneficial for both public and the Authority.

He went on to say that these steps would boost the value of the property for the general public while the Authority would be able to generate revenue in the shape of a transfer fee.
