CDA Seals Buildings in Violation of Regulations: Launches Tree Plantation Campaign

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Building Control Section, in collaboration with the Enforcement Directorate, took decisive action on Thursday against several buildings constructed in violation of regulations along the Expressway.

With the support of the District Administration and Islamabad Police, the operation resulted in the sealing of five buildings that were erected without CDA’s approval. Notices were also dispatched to the owners of these unauthorized structures.

In addition to the above, 13 building owners in the F-17 sector, which consists of private societies, received notices for non-conforming use. The CDA has emphasized its commitment to ensuring that Islamabad remains free from encroachments.

Over the past few months, the authority has been actively addressing encroachments, illegal constructions, and violations of building bylaws in the city.

In a related development, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority, Captain (R) Anwar ulHaq, and Chief Commissioner Islamabad participated in a tree plantation drive in the green belt of Sector D-12/2. This eco-friendly initiative, in partnership with MarriPetroleum, saw students from the Saya Foundation-run school planting trees.

The campaign aims to plant 2,000 trees in the area, including species like Pelikan, Arjun, and Sukh Chain. Notably, the trees being planted are 8 to 10 feet tall to enhance their chances of survival. The Saya School children were actively involved in the campaign, alongside Mari Petroleum’s management.

Captain (R) Anwar-ul-Haq, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the importance of private sector collaboration in efforts to enhance the city’s environment. He reiterated the CDA’s dedication to making Islamabad greener and more sustainable.
