CDA to Acquire 150 Electric Buses for New Islamabad Routes

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to acquire buses from the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) to operate 13 new routes in Islamabad.

The CDA chairman, Noorul Amin Mengal, has stated that the agreement with NRTC is in the final stages, and once it is finalized, NRTC will be bound to start services within 90 days.

The decision to acquire buses from NRTC was made after the civic agency canceled the bids and decided to invite new ones. However, after several meetings, it was concluded that NRTC would be providing 150 electric buses to operate on the new routes.

The new 13 routes will cover various areas such as Police Foundation/Orange Line Station to Red Line Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station in I-8, Allama Iqbal Station to Red Line Potohar Station, and D-12 to G-10.

Other routes include F-11 to Red Line F-8 Station, G-11 to PIMS, Aabpara to Tramri Chowk, Nilor to Khanna Pul, Pirwadhai Chowk to Faizabad, B-17 to 26 Number Chungi, and I-16 to 26 Number.

The acquisition of 150 electric buses is a significant investment in public transportation and is expected to have a positive impact on the environment by reducing carbon emissions.

The move is also expected to improve the public transportation system in Islamabad, making it more efficient and accessible for citizens.

Dear sir margallah hills not only the hills, it’s national park .. and the definition of national is simple word restore the nature , we also against the other activities like monal restaurant lamontnana and like Sach actives which distroyed the nature legally or illegally activities , national park is the heritage of future generation it’s is necessary to save the margallah hills national park to preserve the nature .

  3. Kindly start from rawat to Islamabad with multiple stops.this rout is very crowded so many societies passages traveling to Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
    In this way people will not use their cars.it will be convenient for them.

    1. We request cda authorities to provide same facilities the commuters of residing near motorway chok m1 n m2 where metro station is not available till now . M 26 to airport no metro bus station is available n residents of this area r facing hardships.

  5. A good step to overcome transport problems. Such efforts will not only help reduce rush of vehicles on roads but minimize petrol consumption. Today’s our dire need is to reduce our budget on import of petrol. After commissioning of new electric busses the passengers specially employees serving in Islamabad may be motivated to switch over to public transport instead of their own convenance and provide them passes on concession basis

  6. Route from new margalla road sangjani to all the way khanna pul would be very smart move. It can cover almost all main stop in Islamabad. It would be great comfort for people who use public transport daily to go on jobs.

    1. Reply to Shan niaz, your opinion is very good, but Cda add Wah cantt for students & workers of HMC & Wah Ordinance Factory who went daily basis on public transport & on their vehicles. It would be a good decision by Cda.

  8. That’s great news but kindly start bus service between haji camp to saddar. Because there is a huge public who is living on Peshawar Road and they need such facility to reach to the metro station saddar. Thank you.
