After Centaurus Fire, all High-Rises in Islamabad to be Audited for Fire Safety by CDA

Following the recent fire at Islamabad’s Centaurus Mall, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to perform a post-fire structural stability audit of high-rise buildings in Islamabad.

The fire reportedly broke out in the food court on the 4th floor of the mall. However, no one was injured and the fire was totally extinguished with the building getting shut down for further examination.

The Chairman of CDA, Captain (R) Muhammad Usman Younis, also announced certificates and awards for the rescue team who actively participated in the rescue operation.

It’s important to note that the fire brigade, Pakistan Airforce, Pakistan Navy, and Rescue 1122 took part in the operation.

As per the sources, a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman determined that all structures above 50 ft will be subjected to the audit.

According to the details, the high-rise structures will be examined for real-time mock exercises.

Additionally, the member present at the meeting also suggested that there was a need to strengthen the emergency response and equip emergency disaster cells with state-of-the-art equipment
