CDA to Discuss PC-1s of Park Road Extension and Bhara Kahu Bypass Projects

ISLAMABAD: The Development Working Party (DWP) of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) will convene on Tuesday (today) to discuss Project Cost-1 (PC-1s) of two projects: the expansion and renovation of Park Road and the Bhara Kahu bypass project.

A PC-I worth Rs. 2 billion for the renovation and enlargement of Park Road from Rawal Chowk to Tramari Chowk will be discussed at the meeting.

Due to the mushrooming growth of construction activity over the past two decades, this 7.4km route has experienced traffic congestion.

According to CDA officials, the PC-I will include one extra lane on each side, making it a three-lane artery, as well as overhaul and repair work on the existing lanes.

The other project is the Bhara Kahu bypass, which was designated as a priority by the federal government.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the CDA last month to begin this project as soon as possible and complete it within four months.

The 5km road, including the 1km flyover, will start on Murree Road near Quaid-i-Azam University and end at Jugi stop.

It will then have a 1km long flyover that will end just outside the Bhara Kahu bazaar boundary (towards Murree).

“We are hopeful that the construction work will begin formally in the coming weeks and be completed within the four-month deadline set by the prime minister,” said a CDA engineer.
